A preface to this BTW entry: I’m lazy. There it is. That’s the reason there have been no articles, no BTW’s, no anything on this site for a few months. My loyal and very neglected readers made many requests for more articles and more BTW’s, but I have been uninspired lately and, frankly, found my couch more inviting than sitting behind a keyboard. Until now! My sincere apologies for being a lazy bum.
This week’s absolutely gorgeous BTW comes as a request from Zenestex.com reader, Miso Drunk. Gianna Jun, who also goes by the name of Jun Ji-hyun, was born in Seoul, South Korea on October 30, 1981. Ms. Jun is currently one of the top Hallyu stars. For those who don’t know, Hallyu refers to the spread of South Korean pop culture across the world. It’s basically South Korea’s answer to Bollywood. When Miso suggested Gianna Jun, I had no clue who she was other than a smokin’ hot Asian actress. Then it dawned on me that I have seen her before; she’s the chick from the movie Blood: The Last Vampire! I was finally inspired.
I’ve seen Blood: The Last Vampire and, trust me, Gianna Jun is the only reason to ever watch this movie. It’s basically a vehicle to get her into sexy outfits and kick people’s ass. I’ve seen many failed attempts to cash in on hot, ass kicking, leading ladies in movies with horrible plots. Movies such as Catwoman with Halle Berry or Tomb Raider with Angelina Jolie are completely unwatchable. However, to the lovely Gianna Jun’s credit, Blood: The Last Vampire is at least worth watching once.
Gianna Jun began her rise to fame at the age of 16 as a model for Echo Magazine. Two years later in 1999, she made her big screen debut in the movie, White Valentine. She has since starred in several South Korean films that I have never seen such as The Uninvited, The Lake House, and A Man Who Was Superman. She won Best Actress in the Daejong Film Festival for her role in My Sassy Girl in 2002.
She made her American movie debut this year in the remake of the anime classic, Blood: The Last Vampire. She consequently changed her name from Jun Ji-hyun to the more English-friendly Gianna Jun, which stirred up some controversy amongst her fans. It’s not as if American celebrities don’t change their names as well. Do you really think Busta Rhymes’ parents had such incredible foresight? No, his mamma named him Trevor Smith. Tom Cruise is better known to the U.S. government as the stuffy sounding Tom Cruise Mapother, IV. Why get offended Gianna Jun changing her name? Is it just because she’s Asian? Her fans need to lighten up. I bet most of them don’t even realize that she’s already changed her name once before. That’s right! Jun Ji-hyun was actually born Wang Ji-hyun. She changed her name because it sounded “too Chinese.” Take that haters!

Cute and, yes, she does have a sexy accent!<span style="font-size: large; color: #ff4500"> 8</span>
Good solid 8 from me as well. Maybe bump up to a nine if I can hear her accent. Also, just curious, but how can a Peruvian, Argentinean, Australian play in a movie titled Young Americans?
7, she looks like she have a big head.
Definitely a solid 8. Her accent isn't as strong as you would think.
She's only about a 7 for me… something about her face looks sort of square
Am I the only one who thinks she's a 10? Kudos Cole kudos!
She is an exotic, stunning, gorgeous 10! Not only does she have a beautiful body and face but her lips are so perfect and supple!
Niiiiiicccccceeeeeee….. Absolutely stunning. <span style="font-size: xx-large; color: #000080">10</span>
I just noticed something. Every picture but one she has the exact same look on her face. Dare I say it is "Magnum"?
Thanks for the request, Miso! She definitely has potential for a spot in the illustrious Zenestex.com Top 20. I give her a 9!
Well I object to saying the “Tomb Raider” seris was bad. Angie was smoking hot in those movies. You are a lazy ass too! We want articles! We want articles!!!!!!! For this girl a 7.
Toooooooo Hottttttttt…I have to give u kudos for all the info….Definetely a 10….Diez…Ten…..Makes my Brown Eyes BLUE..
Oh y
Oh yea, a 10.
I never said Angelina Jolie wasn't hot in those movies. In fact, that's pretty much the take home message of Tomb Raider. I just said it's unwatchable, which it is. It's a horrible movie. There are plenty of other movies that have a plot and a hot Angelina Jolie to look at. Why waste my time? As for the articles, I'll see what I can do to get out of my laziness funk.
Yes. Yes. Yes.
Mighty Fine Mr. C
TEN
She's hot… but not a 10 for me… she needs a little bit more curve. That said, I definitely will check her out in Blood since I was wanting to see that anyways… She PLAYS a 16 year old but it's good to know she's in her mid-20's so I don't feel QUITE so creepy when I stare at her. 8
I bet her chicken fried rice is good.
Koreans make Kimchi, not Fried Rice!
It's still asian!
I don't know, but that whole apologetic first paragraph sounds more like someone jsut curled up with his new Snuggie!?
Chip off the old block!
Hot, Hot, Hot!!!! A 10. I give her a friggin 10! Well done my friend, well done.
